HELLENIC SOCIETY FOR THE STUDY AND PROTECTION OF THE MONK SEAL

PANAGIS IS NOW FREE!

31/03/2025

Panagis, the mediterranean monk seal that was found orphaned in Cyprus last November having lost his mother due to complications during birth and transferred with the help of the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research of the Ministry of Agriculture of Cyprus to MOm's Rehabilitation Center that's housed in the Attica Zoological Park in Athens, returned to his homeland! Fully developed with no health issues, ready to live independently, he was released in the seas of Cyprus after almost 4.5 months of rehabilitation!

We would also like to thank Aegean Airlines for the transfer of the little seal to and from Cyprus as well as the Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort for hosting the rehabilitation team and for supporting MOm's project.
